Gold applies business context and purpose.
It defines metrics, aggregations, and time windows aligned to consumption. Gold makes temporal choices explicit — end-of-day, intraday, regulatory cut-off — and treats freshness as a product attribute.
Platinum governs conceptual truth across time.
It unifies meaning across operational, analytical, actuarial, and regulatory views, making temporal assumptions explicit at the semantic level rather than the physical one.
The layers must not collapse.
Their separation is not organisational convenience — it is a temporal safety mechanism.
For example, a Platinum semantic model may explicitly distinguish between regulatory exposure, economic exposure, and actuarial exposure — each derived from the same underlying events, but governed by different temporal assumptions, cut-offs, and restatement rules. Platinum does not calculate these values; it makes their temporal meaning explicit and non-negotiable.
12. A Temporal Checklist for Financial Services Architecture Reviews
